Yesterday morning on my way to my 8am exam I stopped by Starbucks to grab a cup of coffee. I was super stressed about my exam and I had not gotten much sleep since I was awake most of the night studying. I was anxious because I still had a 30 minute drive to get to campus and the drive through line was moving super slow. But something happened to me this morning that made me so happy and changed my perspective immediately. A kind gentleman in the car ahead of me paid for my coffee. In that moment my day immediately was a thousand times better. To say thank you I then proceeded to pay for the woman behind me. I realized at in the midst of every day struggles, and all the negativity surrounding us, a smile, compliment, saying thank you, or paying it forward can have a great lasting impact. Everyone is facing a battle every day and now a days many people unknowingly let their anger out on others. Every problem or experience of all individuals is important and should not be ignored, but we also need to be aware that responding more positively will be a better option. I was getting anxious and stressed for no reason. I assumed that the people ahead of me were unable to decide what they wanted which was why the line wasn’t moving, and I also thought that the employees were just working super slow. But the mindset of the gentleman ahead of me was different. Because of his random act of kindness it made a difference in my thinking and turned my entire day around. I went from being upset in the morning to super happy and thankful. You never know what someone is going through and acting random act of kindness may be the one thing they need to understand the beauty of life. A simple gesture can turn all of the negativity into positivity and can make a huge difference to everyone around us. Use today as an opportunity and make the decision if you want today to be better than yesterday!
Awww, I’m so happy that happened to you! It’s so nice to see you reflect on the positive impact the act of kindness had on you. Hopefully it inspires us to all go forward and do something to brighten someone else’s day π
I can relate with this because one day I was going through a toll and the individual payed for me. It caught me off guard but it really shows that when we stop worrying about what society expects from us and do things from our heart it leaves a huge impact!
