Television can sometimes be the most reflective form of cultural mirroring that can show what society truly thinks of certain people, and the behavior that they find suitable for those types of identities. Dramas and comedies often reveal stereotypical tropes of characters that can often be unrealistic and uncomfortable to experience, while live-action news programming can show the true thoughts that organizations from around the world are attempting to pump into the minds of humans in our society. The least drastic form of television that I would expect catastrophe from would definitely be a game show. I mean, really?

Earlier this month, a French gameshow host displayed a ‘perfect’ example of  an individual exerting illness upon another member’s body on live TV for the entire world to see. As we can see from the picture, the famous actress Soraya was participating in a funny sketch on the show. Before the skit began, the host asked if he could kiss Soraya, to which Soraya replied and shook her head with a no. She eventually complied with a kiss to the cheek.Afterwards, the TV host exerts a forceful and surprising kiss upon her breasts instead. Soraya can be seen showing utter disappointment with this outcome, especially as it was against her wishes and quite a loss of control for her.

The contingency for Soraya was in such an extreme and public fashion, which caused her to be heavily unsure on whether to express resentment in such a supposedly professional and public atmosphere. This type of behavior and forceful impact shows the capacity of control being ripped away for the entire world to see. Hopefully Soraya is able to gain her composure back in the future, without having to think twice about it affecting her career. These are important dilemmas that women often have to deal with in the workforce and television. I think it’s best the world supports her and shows that this ill-advised behavior is never acceptable.
