SEXuality in Islam

Islam is a fitrah religion as Allah, who created the earth and all of humankind, is its source. It aims to lead Man in every facet of life.

The requirement for sexual relationships in life is a component of man’s fitrah. Islam must therefore provide instructions on how Man should satiate his sexual urges in agreement with the fitrah. The general elements that make up this advice include teaching Muslim youngsters about sexuality.

Islam’s approach to sexuality education aims to help people utilize their sexual urges and impulses in an acceptable and responsible way to achieve goals beyond simple delight and satisfaction.

Islam mandates that only man and woman, who are bound by a marriage tie, may give consent in order to accomplish this.
Therefore, one of the main goals of sex education is to stop Muslims from engaging in Zina, which includes adultery and underage sex.

“And do not commit adultery,” the Qur’an commands zina in verse 17:32, “for, behold, it is an abomination and an evil way.”
Islam’s approach to sexuality education also aims to deter Muslims from engaging in behaviors the religion views as abnormal, like as same-sex partnerships (homosexual acts and transgenderism), bestiality, anal sex, and child abuse.
Islam also aims to control sex as a crucial tool for creating a moral family unit and, as a result, serves as a pillar for a moral society for both the present and future generations.

In other words, Islam associates sex with morally superior goals. It is expected that such an action will be accompanied by a sense of accountability and dedication to a worthwhile cause.

WESTERN PERSPECTIVE

Sex is viewed as a fundamental basic dignity there under the impact of democracy, which places a high value on an abstract principle from constraints. There represents the foundation upon which the right of any adult to freely pursue their sexual desires with another adult, whether of a different sex or the same sex, in secret or in public, is built. If there is also no animal abuse engaged, even having sex with animals could be viewed as fulfilling a human right.
The result of this concept is a growing trend in the West toward an unfettered sexual lifestyle that extends to normalizing same-sex marriage, switching spouses in getting married, abortion, public indecency, and prostitutes.

Let’s Talk about Mental Health in South Asian Communities

“Im afraid to tell my parents”

“It’s not depression, it’s just overthinking”

“They will disown me”

“They wont get it”

Here are only a few comments I have heard from South Asian Americans in my family and social circles. Despite growing up and being reared in the United States, several of us are strongly impacted or afflicted by our family’s beliefs on mental disorder. The number of stories and times I’ve seen many girls and boys commit suicide and ingure themselves because they cant seek help for their mental health. The higher incidence of depression reported in this demographic may be attributed to a number of causes, including familial tension and anxiety. For several years, the neighborhood has battled against the stigma and unease that surround mental conditions.

Being a south Asian myself, I can relate to what it’s like to experience such health. Sharing sentiments can be challenging because it was unheard of in her family, which made it difficult for me to deal with her feelings. When I’m stressed or depressed, I sometimes can’t tell my parents because they won’t understand and won’t know what to say or do. When I was going through something, I wasn’t taught to express my sentiments; instead, I was taught to surpress them, even though that was the unhealthiest course of action.

South Asian immigrants are especially vulnerable to depression and related mental health problems. 24 Hindi-speaking women who had only recently immigrated to Canada were the subjects of a 2004 study that looked at the qualitative impacts of immigration on mental health. Many of the ladies surveyed agreed that they had not encountered any mental health problems in India.

Whenever anything terrible happened to me when I was a child, I rarely came to talk about it.

The brown method, however, favored silence to speech. Fearlessness is the praised way of life of a group that values perseverance, particularly once that community lives in America and is under social pressure to fit into a model minority image.

Fat or Skinny, WE ARE ALL EQUAL

How many of us feel anxious when discussing our weight and attempt to change the topic it as soon as possible?

What percentage of us think that, in the end, what matters most is a person’s capacity to feel at ease within their own body and refrain from using that confidence as a means of gaining an advantage over others in the society we have today?

An major determinant of a female’s partner’s worth is their body weight. Although it may appear unpleasant, the idea behind it is one that was developed through the ages.  Physique size and shape substantially influence what is considered beautiful. Everywhere in the globe, that is the situation. I believe that as we become older, we more aware of our bodies. As our consciousness grows, we begin to notice things that other people deem to be flawed and begin to worry about our bodies. Weight is an example of these imperfections that humans battle.

A person’s body weight increase or significant loss is frequently directly attributed to changing their eating or activity routine. One can get upset with your body and start working out harder if one suspect you’ve put on a couple pounds. In contrast, you would applaud yourself for improving your diet if the scale indicates that you are lighter than typical. Although many individuals wouldn’t even consider it, bigger weight shifts are sometimes triggered by hormonal changes or imbalances. Researchers have shown that hormonal fluctuations can affect your eating, affecting the amount of food you consume and what kinds of cravings you have.

Compared to males, women seem to be more inclined to indulge in emotional eating. They might grab ice cream far quicker than a male might when they are anxious, unhappy, or overcome with emotion. Women are more likely to use aggressive dietary techniques to get in shape, including missing meals or doing juice fasts.

Phenomenology of a Muslim’s perspective

I can speak from experience as an American-born Muslim who was raised in the US when I say that Muslims will always be socially stigmatized. The worst thing I could do was sit in my social studies lessons, praying that September 11th wouldn’t be right around the corner. I would always try staying home that day. When the subject was discussed on the day of the lesson, everyone would turn their heads, and the classmates would smirk cruelly as I sat there with nothing to say and nothing I could do because that’s how the people around us saw us Muslims. It’s the worst feeling a Muslim could experience. Islamophobia was initially defined as an unjustified hatred of Islam and hate against all or many Muslims. Middle Eastern communities, especially Muslims and Sikhs, were stereotyped as “terrorists.”

Due to the prevalence of Muslim representations belonging to non-White populations, racialization and religion are typically intertwined. Islamophobia has an impact on the lives of Americans with Muslim-like aspects. It goes beyond race and includes things like attire. External qualities that make one more susceptible to Islamophobia include having a particular skin complexion, donning a headscarf or turban, and conversing to a particular accent; nevertheless, non-Muslims like Christians can also possess similar traits.

Numerous faiths have adopted racism from a phenomenological perspective, but Islam is a religion that it has significantly impacted. Its fundamental objective is to demonstrate that prejudice as a form of poor socialization is not a temporary deficit that automatically vanishes in completely functional societies. Islamic racism has an authoritarian impact that affects the lives of its own followers, altering their routines and, ultimately, religious representations. I’m among them. Phenomenology is sometimes referred to as the study of phenomena as they appear in human perception, as well as the awareness, cognition, and meaning that they have for us. Phenomenology, to put it another way, is the study of how people actually perceive their surroundings.
