Kanye West: Mental Illness is Real

We all know one of the current hot topic at the moment is Kanye West and his mental breakdown. It all started recently during Kanye’s concert for his tour, when he started ranting about different things like his support for Donald Trump, his anger towards Beyoncé’s performance at the VMA for her “formation” song which is based on the Black Panthers theme. He also mentioned Jay-Z and said “don’t send your people for me” referring to the whole illuminati thing, and also how people have been lied to by the media and the radio. A lot of videos have been circulating on twitter showing Kanye really strange and concerning behavior. And a lot of people have been reacting to this, and many people seem to be angry about this. I can understand why most people who went to the concert were upset and wanted a refund, because they came to watch Kanye perform his music not listen to his rent about his political views, and feelings for Jay-Z and Beyonce. Something I can’t understand is why some people were upset with the fact that Kanye supports Trump, I mean I know he lacks a lot of rational thinking but I don’t think this should be an excuse to judge him because of his political views. It was almost as if people we ganging up on him and making it seem as if his mental breakdown was a joke or that it was just another “act of Kanye.” I feel like people don’t take his illnesses seriously meanwhile, mental illness is very serious and many people who are mentally ill aren’t always as fortunate as to get the help they need.

  1. I completely 100% love and agree with your post. I honestly feel like most times Kanye West is misunderstood and people hate what they do not understand. They would rather label him a “crazy” person, than actually try to understand who he is, and what exactly he is trying to say. Even if you don’t agree sometimes its good to hear what other people have to say.

  2. As a very known rapper in our generation, he was very known for being pro back in his early career. Certain events like his mother passing was a very traumatic part in his life and people noticed a shift in music therefor a shift within in. He becomes very affiliated with his environment and marrying into Kardashian family was defiantly another shift in his life and his business career. There could be a lot of internal conflict when it comes between him and reality. He could have a mental illness or he’s just being himself, because at the end of the day he is a gemini.

  3. Hello,

I did very much agree with your post. However, what I have been finding interesting on social media is the amount of people sympathizing with Kanye West but if their own family members (especially in the black community) suffers from depression its hard to accept. I suffer from depression and I remember going to my mother who kind of laughed and thought I just “needed a vacation.” I also found it interesting the amount of people trying to diagnose Kanye’s condition. I personally am not a fan of him I do believe it is wrong to judge him based off of his political views but the guy is a dick and I can’t help but think to myself that his recent actions is a cry for attention of some sort. Rather it be for help or just because.

  4. I can understand why many of his fans would feel strongly disheartened by Kanye’s supposed support for Trump. While I don’t think Kanye’s political views should necessarily have an impact on the consumption of his art, paying money to see him perform only for him to support ideologies that severely damage the lives of his fans rightfully induces anger.
Personally, I am concerned for Kanye and think that many of his public episodes reveal his unstable mental state. I hope that he is able to receive help and continue to make music that uplifts and ponders.

  5. I think this is a great post. I think people find anything to get upset with when it comes to celebrity. Also Kanye West said in that interview that he did not even vote BUT if he did it would have been for Donald Trump. I think Kanye West has mental health issues and needs to get some serious help. His boldness and out burst is what I love most about Kanye!
