Now What?

As I prepare to graduate, I realise I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around ideas of being a graduate.  Such as, “what do you mean I wont be in classes anymore?” or “I feel like I have homework due”.  I’ve started to realise that I’ll miss simply being in classes and hearing about new things.  I’ll miss that feeling of reading a book for a class and falling in love with the text.  I’ll miss meeting new people even though I probably wont actually talk to them.  I’ll miss so many things about being an undergraduate college student.  I’m still in disbelief.  I feel like I’m now losing a bit of my identity in order to gain a new one at some point when I find my career.

  1. I completely understand what you’re going through. I am graduating in May and I have been really depressed and confused about the next step in my life. Don’t worry I am sure you will find your calling. Also, Congratulations!

  2. I know what you mean. It’s hard transitioning into not being a student when we’ve been in school for basically our entire life. I’ve been applying to internships and jobs and it’s exciting and scary at the same time. I’ve also been scared about having a new schedule that doesn’t revolve around classes and exams. I hope you adjust to becoming a new graduate and an even adultier adult! Good luck on future endeavors!!

  3. It’s interesting I feel the completely opposite. I am currently a junior and still have one more year to go, but I’m so done being a college student. I am so ready to start working in the world doing what I actually invested 4 years of life for. I am debating if I want to start grad school right after graduation, or take a year or two off. The idea of having to be a student again, and spending money, time, and energy on school sometimes just drains me, but at the same time I want to earn my Master’s Degree. I suggest during may you take some time to figure what you really want to do with your college degree. Since you seem to enjoy the idea of being a student then Grad school might an option for you ? Obviously that depends on so many aspect of your life. Congrats on graduating !

  4. this is something that i have been thinking a lot about. I will be graduating in May and have not a clue what to do after it. I keep telling myself that I can just move back home till i figure it out but i fear i will get stuck there. I come from a small town that most dont leave and if they do, they usually dont come back. I hope that I figure something out and am able to experience more of the world and not end up trapped in the home town that i tried so hard to get away from.
