Sometimes it’s easy to feel lost when people have a hard time communicating and connecting to you in a way that you need them to be. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is by letting them go. There might be a times where you should be strong and help patch things up, but theres also lots of times where you realize that the best way to love them, is by letting them go. You can’t make someone love you the way you should be loved if things are only one sided. Let them go. You can’t make them love you , if they don’t. So the best thing we can do now is to simply let them go. You can try everything in the world to change how they feel but that won’t change their mind.
You should save the headache and heartache by letting them go, this goes for friendships or relationships. Letting them go doesn’t mean that your giving up on them, you are simply noticing that your worth more than what they have to offer and thats something that nobody can take from you. Sometimes holding on to someone can cause more harm than just letting them go. Sometimes you just have to let them go and wish them the best, even though you were the best for them. You can’t force someone to appreciate you, but you can sure as hell show them that you are better off without them. Be around people who are willing to put you first no matter what. Don’t let someone half love you when you know your worth so much more. Let them go. Some people will not hear you, regardless of how much, how loud, how truthful, how loving you speak. Recognize that, and wish them the best and let them go. If you’ve repeatedly told them whats bothering you and they don’t do anything about it, let them go. If they aren’t willing to make time for you, let them go. People only make time for the people they want in their life so it they aren’t making you a priority, let them go. Sometimes you just have to sit back and realize that your worth more than what they have to offer and thats when you realize that its best to just let them go.
I know it can be hard to let them go, simply because you already created a whole future with them in your mind and sometimes it might feel like you can’t live without them, but truth is, you can. You just have to realize that life will still move along with or without them in your life. So if they aren’t willing to reach for your standards and what your worth, let them go. Sometimes we risk too much for the wrong people but too little for the right ones. You just have to understand that some hearts are not for us, so let them go. You will lose more by keeping the wrong people in your life, than by letting them go. Sometimes you just have to realize who is worth holding on too and who isn’t. If they don’t see the value of having you in their life, let them go. Life is too short to be running miles for people who aren’t willing to take a simple step for you. Let them go.

I can sense so much maturity and growth in this post. It screams both heartbreak and love all at the same time and personally, I can say that I’ve experienced both as well. I had a pretty hard breakup a few years ago and it took me a while to accept the situation. But, after taking a step back, I realized that letting go is the best thing sometimes. Like you said, it’s not that you don’t care about that person but it’s in the best interest of both parties when it just isn’t working anymore. Letting someone go doesn’t devalue the love that you have for them, if anything it might mean that you love them even more because you know deep down that time and separation is best at the moment. I’ve learned over the years that both individuals in a relationship whether that be girlfriend/boyfriend, friend to friend, or mother/daughter, both parties have to give and show up. Everyone deserves attention and love so if you’re not receiving that, it’s time to reevaluate the relationship and sometimes that means moving on and taking some time to focus on yourself. Thank you for sharing this! Really good post!
I really appreciate what you wrote. I actually sent this to a friend going through a bad relationship right now. He was really emotionally abusive and she deserved so much more. She ended up breaking up with him today and your words really resonated with both of us. Thank you for sharing this. It was really important to hear.
This really hit home for me because I’m in the midst of a friend break-up. I think often people overlook the pain that can come from the end of a friendship, because it can hurt just as much as a romantic break-up especially if they’ve been in your life for so long. It’s difficult to accept that I’m growing apart from someone I considered my best friend not too long ago, but this post reminded me that it’s okay. This is a situation that most everyone will encounter at some point, and it’s super important to remember that sometimes, letting go of them is what’s best for you.
Oh my gosh.. I am going through the exact same thing & it hurts like a mutha!!. These words hit home and put things that a friend was just telling me a whole lot more into perspective for me 😞… It didn’t hurt this much when I finally got out of a stale eleven year romantic relationship.
What struck me the most was when you said “You just have to understand that some hearts are not for us, so let them go. You will lose more by keeping the wrong people in your life, than by letting them go.” Growing up with insecure attachment has meant feeling intense emotions and preemptive grief at the idea any person potentially leaving my life whether they are good for me or not – even when I’m the one wanting to cut them off. What you said feels like the best advice my younger self could have gotten, thank you thank you thank you. I’ll remember this one.
I can definitely relate to your article about letting go. When you meet someone, there is no guarantee the relationship is going to last. Although we hope it does. My brother always told me that if my friend and I were having more bad days than good days, it is time to let it go and move on. He also told me that letting go would hurt for a while but eventually, I’d get over it. I was able to finally let the relationship end and I am in a better place mentally and emotionally. Thanks for sharing.

I love this post. I feel that it definitely resonates with me. Friendship wise, I always have a really hard time letting go, even though I know it’s probably for the best. I look for different ways to cope with things, though, for instance, I keep myself busy, or find something else to do other than communicating/reaching out to whoever it may be. In the end, this doesn’t always work, but relying on those around me, such as my family members or other friends, definitely helps to keep me sane!
