My Apple Music Replay

List of musical albums

My 2023 has been a pure episode believe it or not, and if there’s anything that can describe it it’s my Apple Music Replay. By listening to the music I play, you’ll understand the type of person I am. I listen to specific music when I’m in certain moods, if I am hype, sad, angry, etc.

Destroy Lonely has been my favorite artist this year, a hip-hop/rap artist from Atlanta, Georgia. He’s been my favorite this year because of his versatility in production of his music, from underground to real rap to flowy music. Lonely has been someone I’ve listened to on repeat this year because I can listen to him with my friends and embrace the energetic fun side of myself.

Don Toliver, as people like to call “rap-n-b” artist is another one of my favorite artists. His album, Life of a Don, has been a hit for me this past summer. (If you’re sad) or going through a plethora of emotions, listen to You. I promise you’ll love the song, maybe even get the song stuck in your head. This album has helped me get out of low moods and bring my esteem back up.

Sofaygo is my favorite artist all around. He’s not well known by other music listeners, but he’s a goat in my eyes. When I’m able to relate to music it sounds better, and I can relate to all his music. He can be placed anywhere from hip-rap to R&B. He, just like Destroy Lonely, is a super versatile artist when it comes to his music flow.

Lastly, ICE SPICE. She’s not in my favorites, but her come up this year in music has been successful. She’s one of those artists that you turn on and can’t not dance to. Being that she’s from New York, she puts out mainly drill music like other New York artists. Deli took a hit this summer, one of the most played songs on my replay list.

All in all, if you can’t tell I LOVE MUSIC. I can get down to a lot of music even if I don’t really like what’s playing. My life without music is bland, and I also believe culturally that music brings many groups together and flashes a positive light. Open up your music taste. 🙂

Change Your Attitude.

Change Your Attitude.

You might walk into Foot Locker or Hollister in the mall to do routine wardrobe updating. Minding your own business, until you’re not. You hear a rather strange noise being emitted from someone. There is a possibility they might suffer Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but that’s not what flows through everyone’s mind. Or it might, but you don’t care about that, you’re just trying to shop. Many people today are rather judgmental than open and accepting, which needs to change.

There’s this tendency of stopping and staring, rather than moving on with yourself. The caretakers have it handled, and there’s nothing that you can do but cause embarrassment by staring and talking down. It’s impeccable how often I see piercing eyes judging another human being for something they cannot control, but can only work on with time and caring people.

It is also insane how we generalize autism to specifically children, when in fact those children do age just like any other child. Reading Stevenson et. al on Infantilizing Autism, many facts and statistics were revealed on the number of ways that Autism Organizations infantilize the disorder. On page 2, authors stated, “In 2008, the most prominent autism charity, Autism Speaks, reported on its website an estimate of the number of “autistic people.” That estimate was identical to their estimate of the number of “autistic children,” thereby denying the existence of any autistic adults.” In my opinion, that’s almost dehumanizing.

Overall, we just need to do better with our attitudes and opinions to neurodivergent beings. They are just as human as we are, and making this change would invite those into a safe space rather than excluding.

Am I Able To Do This??

Am I Able To Do This??

Many thoughts and questions go through my head with the world of ignorance we live in today. How do I keep going? Will I be successful? Will I be able to have the dream family, dream lifestyle, dream anything that I want? Sitting back and deeply thinking, you won’t know unless you do something for yourself and those protective around you. Being a young Afro-Latina in today’s society is hard, whether it’s in terms of pregnancy, civilization, or my own self-image. I come from a family line of women who dealt with traumatic pregnancy terms, or even reproductive issues in itself. A line of men who have suffered from cancers varying from lung to low blood cell count leading to other health issues. Thinking about starting my own family scares me. I always track back to the story my mom told me: the doctors didn’t catch my faint, irregular heartbeat at eight, almost nine months. The umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck. What if that were to be me in about 6-7 years with my first born and I’m not conscious of it? Or if I am ignorant and decide to not get check ups and discover something too late? I always tend to think the negative rather the positive, so clearly that’s a sign of something psychically that I need to work on.
