As I sit here trying to think of a topic to write this last blog on, I can’t help but reflect on how the semester went in this class. As I think about all the theories that were explored, new opinions, debates, and perspectives that I encountered, I found that I learned a lot, not necessarily from reading the readings, but rather from the class discussion and from my fellow classmates’ interpretations. But I also realized that compared to many of my peers, I did not actively participate in the classroom discussions. So I decided to write my final blog on my “quietness” in classes. Continue reading

The day after the election:No Hope?
The day after the election (Wednesday November 9, 2016), I had only one class, Psychology of Women. Waking into class that day was a little surreal. I did not know what to think, what to expect from the class but I knew something was going to happen. And I think everyone had the same feeling. There was little to no talking, and even if there was, it was whispers between friends about what had happened the night before. As we took our seats we were all on edge about the class, what is the professor going to say? Are we going to talk about what happened? Are we going have a class discussion about implication of a Trump presidency? Are we going to have an opportunity to speak our minds? Are we going to talk about whats the implication on women, minorities, the LGBTQ community, etc., and those with intersectional identity? No one knew the answer, which made the anxiety in the room increase.
Who am I? Is my body expressing who I am?
After writing my paper on the argument of the body being a medium, it got me thinking about the question, ‘who am I?’. In most cases, in order for the body to function as a medium of self-expression one need to know who they are in order to know what they are trying to express to others. So in order to express yourself, it is assumed that you know yourself. And of course this got me thinking about how would I answer the question “who am I”?
In my case the question ‘who are you?’ has to be one of the most difficult question for me to answer. Have you ever really looked at yourself and don’t know
really who you are? Like you know who you should be, what people (family, friends, etc,) expects you to be but apart from those expectations, you don’t know who you are? Continue reading
