I had a really uncomfortable realization of my own internalized misogyny the other day. I’m happy that it came up, it gave me the opportunity to address it and change the way I think about things, but damn was that a shitty thought.

Something I have always struggled with, like a lot of people, is my mental health. And I feel like there’s so many levels to this shit, that sometimes I can’t tell which part I’m actually struggling with. Is it the mental illness itself? It’s symptoms? Or is it me literally recognizing the presence of it?
Continue readingA note to the reader: I use queer in this passage as a way to express that we are all different in our sexualities, but similar in our differences. I am not sure what I would label myself as in this part of my sexuality journey, and that word helps me to feel included and seen, while still allowing me the space to figure it out. I do not mean to offend anyone with the use of the term. I also use gay as an umbrella term in certain parts of the passage, mostly as an opposition to straightness, as that is how it is understood by my parents. However, neither of my siblings nor myself are necessarily by gay by definition, we’re just all not straight.
