Living with anxiety has been a very big part of my life, and it affects my daily routine. The constant worry and unease make even simple conversations feels like a challenge, leaving me feeling pretty uneasy in social situations. As a student, the pressure to excel academically only makes my anxiety worse, making it hard to keep up with assignments and deadlines. Whether it’s about health, school, money, friends, family, etc. everything seems to make me anxious in a way. It’s comforting to know that I’m not alone in this struggle and that many people face similar battles with anxiety.
I’ve taken some steps to try and tackle my anxiety. I’ve been watching YouTube videos and reading articles that provide tips for managing anxiety. These videos and articles have given me a sense of motivation to try and retrain my brain and reduce the hold anxiety has on my life. While it is tough sometimes, I’m determined to confront my anxiety and work towards a calmer future.

In my experience, the first step to conquering anxiety is to admit that you have it. Understanding what anxiety is and how it manifests differently for everyone is not an easy feat. For some, it can manifest physically, such as heart palpitations or extreme fatigue. For others, it’s mental and emotional. In any case, identifying that anxiety is at the root of how you are feeling both mentally and physically is challenging and it sounds to me like you have tackled the hardest part. Anxiety is new to me. It was triggered after a traumatic event with one of my kids and it is now the root cause of most of my autoimmune flares. I’m testing out different methods that include therapy, meditation, and meds. The journey toward healing is not overnight and I’m learning to be patient while I discover what works for me. I hope that you find some of those same answers for yourself.
Anxiety just fucking sucks all around. When my anxiety started getting bad, I would have panic attacks every night thinking I was about to die, and while I wasn’t having a panic attack I would be feeling a tight ball of anxiety in my stomach making me want to throw up and curl into a ball. For around 2 months I felt no emotion other than anxiety and fear. I was eating less, I didn’t talk to people as much, and I couldn’t focus on anything. Finally I worked up the courage to ask my parents to help me find a therapist. My therapist help me so much, I probably owe him my life. I went from constant panic attacks and never-ending anxiety, to only panic attacks sometimes and very reduced anxiety during the day. That was in maybe the first month of seeing him. After that I was able to get it down to an even more reasonable level. Therapy is scary and can be daunting, but it helped me through so much. If you haven’t tried it I definitely recommend it. I watched a lot of those YouTube videos too, but they didn’t help nearly as much. Regardless of how you manage anxiety, you got this.
Hi!
Anxiety can definitely be a tough thing to deal with because if it gets bad enough it can be debilitating, its important to be able to recognize the signs of anxiety so you can stop it before it fully starts. One thing that i learned that works for me is listening to music. Jhene Aiko has came out with music where she uses sound bowls to calm the mind and body. Maybe try checking it out when you are feeling anxious, its called “Trigger protection mantra”. It’s actually pretty soothing. Wishing you the best on your journey.
Anxiety is the worst. I’ve been in and out of therapy for anxiety ever since I was in elementary school. One thing I will say, is that most of the times, therapy has really helped my anxiety symptoms. I am not currently in therapy, and I’ve noticed that the pressure college classes bring on make my anxiety 100% worse. It doesn’t matter what it’s about (often times nothing specific, just a feeling of impending doom), but being in school has made my anxiety less manageable on a daily basis. You are not alone in the way you’ve been feeling, I’m right here with you. Your post has inspired me to be more conscious of my anxiety, and maybe I should do some research like you have to try and help myself.
I hate anxiety so much because it can control our daily lives without sometimes even realizing it. But I am glad that you are able to confront your own anxiety, which can be built for many people. Personally, it took me 2 years to confront my own anxiety and over time with therapy I have been able to improve. The things that personally helped me improve were thinking no matter what I did, it either being talking, not wearing my headphones, etc. still counted as change. While I know it is very built for fighting and managing it, just remember that even the small things you do count as a big step. 🙂
Anxiety sucks. I wish it upon no one. Thank you for the tips and tricks, I think I will also start doing some research so that I can identify ways to cope with the feelings of anxiety. I just want to understand it better so I can better understand myself. The best way to describe anxiety from my personal experience is walls closing in on me. Like I don’t know how I am supposed to prevent that from happening. Also I have resonate deeply on the anxiety on school. I feel like I have higher expectations on myself than my parents and I’m just trying to find a middle ground and not let myself overfill my cup.
